Main Duties of the Job

As a Band 5 RGN, your responsibilities will include: 

• Nurse-led clinics (e.g., wound care, health checks) 
• Medication administration and treatment delivery 
• Emergency response and triage of acutely unwell patients 
• Initial health assessments for new arrivals 
• Supporting chronic disease management and wellbeing initiatives 
• Accurate clinical documentation and adherence to prison protocols

Person Specification

• Education and Training – Essential 
• Registered General Nurse Level 1 
• Evidence of ongoing CPD and delivery of evidence based care 

 

Knowledge and Experience – Essential

Knowledge of current healthcare issues

• Understanding of clinical governance, audit, and risk management 
• Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team 
• Ability to manage deteriorating patients in a complex environment 
• Understanding and application of confidentiality 

 

Desirable 

• Experience of working within Health & Justice 
• Experience of working in primary care/substance misuse/acute care 
• Understanding of local and national key documents and their impact on health care delivery in a prison setting 

Skills and Abilities

• Excellent communication skills 
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team 
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills 
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office) 
• Accurate record keeping
